Iodine in Optical Polarizing Films
Most likely you have a television, computer, cell phone, or gaming device LCD screen in your home. LCD panels consist of clear polarized sheets fused together. The crystals create the image on the monitor with the help of a back light passing through the screen.
To give LCDs an even greater polarized effect, some LCDs include stretched polyvinyl alcohol films that are coated with iodine. The iodine is absorbed into the film.
